I went out and bought a breast pump the other day to try to get my milk going again. I dont think I dried up completely because when I squeese my nipples, little milk comes out still, so I think there is some hope. How long do I have to wait or how much pumping do you think I should do to get my milk REALLY going again. Is there something that i'm doing wrong? Baby is out of the question, she REFUSED to get on the tit, and I prefer to pump so daddy wont feel left out in the feedings. |
| You should be pumping about every 2 hours. The more you pump, the more you'll make. Do breast massage and maybe apply heat before pumping. Look at/think about your baby while you're pumping. This may help you let down better. If the flow of milk slows or stops, take off the horns and reposition them on your breasts. Sometimes you can get a second letdown this way. Never pump more than 20 minutes in a session. More frequent pumping/nursing is more effective at boosting supply than longer sessions. Make sure you are getting plenty of fluids. What kind of pump are you using? A good double electric such as Medela? Consider herbal supplements such as fenugreek and/or blessed thistle. Consider contacting a lactation consultant or a LLL Leader for help recovering your supply. ETA: If you didn't nurse or pump for 6 full weeks, it could take up to 6 full weeks for you to see a full supply. You should see some results within about 4 days of increased pumping though. |

| Yes they are. Have had same problems here. I have even bought expensive ones (Whisper) and they do the same thing. One brand I do like to use with a lower noise level is Top Fin. | Muscle Lean Diet.? I was surfing the web for some diets for building lean muscles, but damn, some of them don't go into detail yet alone provide you with some before and after pictures of the person. This is problem, I'm 17yrs old, about 5'7, around 150, but have no clue into what diet converts my fat into lean muscle. I want to lose reduce my BMI yet still have a built structure, you know, large **** pumped chest, great bi/triceps. I heard about high protein, low carb/ fat diets, what are some other ones. I have been breastfeeding for 3 months. And i love providing the best for my guy but i have been struggling SO hard to keep my breast milk in. I've done everything, leaving her on the tit to help stimulation, pumping, drinking fluids eating right.. I don't know what else to do. She is becoming VERY demanding and drink 8 ounces in one feeding! We started giving her cereal and I've been giving her formula for the past 4 or 5 days. She's SO much more satisfied and content and she hasn't had ANY constipation, and is pooping great on the formula. When i was breastfeeding we were struggling with her being constipated... Why?! I was eating right and i tried eating diferent things to make sure that wasn't it.. Im so upset i KNOW my breastmilk is so much better for her.. i hate myself right now i feel like im not doing my job as a mother if i cant provide the best for her! What will it do to her if i start feeding her formula from now on?? My milk is still there but its BARELY coming on but does that mean is till have a chance? I've tried putting her on just to stimulate but im not getting anything.. Please any advice that's not judgemental would be so appreciated!! | Feed more often even if its hourly. She will be getting something even if the pump doesnt, babies are much more efficient. Look for 6-8 wet nappies to know shes hydrated. How is her weight gain?When she has a growth spurt (& wants MORE) you catch up around 2 days later.So she will feed more often over those 2 days ,The more you feed the more milk you produce. I found 'sup feeds' of formula detrimental as thats milk shes not drawing from you so youre not replacing so you fall further behind. Have you spoken to your Dr & or a lactation consultant. Others on these pages have recommended mothers milk tea, frengruk & I was almost pescribed maxilon by my Dr its an anti nausia medication safe to use when BF with the unusual effect of causing lactation in pregnant or new Mums. What will it do if you switch to formula? Sounds like you know & understand the benifits of BF, you also know that you wont/can't continue as you have, I feel like sitting down & crying for your frustration!!! If you need to switch do it, 1000s of babies are fed formula & they thrive. Do it guilt free becasue you've tried your options & are doing so in the best intrests of your baby. My son was 12 weeks prem (born at 28weeks) Id been hospitalised for 9 weeks & he was born by emergency csection so we both had a chance to live I had a HORRIBLE time waiting for my milk to come in then trying to keep up with him. My best advise put her to the breast as often as you can . Rest/sleep when she does. Eat well, drink LOTS of water, rest some more. Leave any housework or other jobs that no one will litterally die from if you dont do & just submerge yourself in her world & breast feeding. You produce your most around 2 am so giving her that night feed will help empty you so you fill up more for the day ahead. When my son came home (8weeks old) he was on hourly feeds, often only 15 or 20 mins but every hour he was hungry because he was still little & so was my supply. Nurses,Drs, even my Hubby offered Id given it my best shot & it was ok to give him formula but I was determined, I didnt carry him full term, I could hadly do anything for him while he was in NICU because of my illness, I was going to feed him!!! We were on 2 hourly feeds still at 3 mths (he was gaining & growing so we endured) then finally my milk kicked in, I continued to feed until 3yrs 3mths, I tried to wean at 18mths & he fractured my nose so I figured he was as passionate to continue as I had been to start lol I never needed breastpads & never leaked. My 2nd (overdue but still csection) my milk was in by day 4 seldom leaked but had no supply issues # 3 I was a dairy, leaking at 30 weeks & sometimes needing to express a little before feeding so she didnt choke on my letdown Remember to try to relax, stressing will only inhibit you more. Count those nappies, nurse 24/7 if she wants to & watch her weight gain. If you go to formula you HAVE NOT failed in any way , you've put your daughters needs ahead of your own desire THAT is what makes a good parent :) ADD: Pulling away when feeding I would treat as 1 of 2 things. 1st to mind is shes having a breather after youve had a let down. With my 1st I was so low in milk I couldnt feel the let down but when pumping I could see it gush. It can be a lot for a little one to gulp down. This leads into reason 2 Wind: Bubs can really need to gulp down a letdown and will pull away. Use this natural break to burp her. If youve continued to relatch her without bupring she will stop feeding because shes full of wind, theres preasure on the tummy, she thinks shes full. Once this wind breaks her tummy is empty again & she cries in hunger. A big air bubble will also see her spit back up a lot of whats gone on top of it. When shes crying look at her legs, if shes curling her knees uptowards her tummy its 99% of the time wind, look also for the bluish tinge around her lips, especially the top one also a wind sign. I agree exclusivley BF bubs seldom become constipated,(remember she will pass wind with her poos so look at the stool to judge if shes constipated, some bubs need to work harded to pass a normal stool while the muscles develop & learn how its done) however it is normal for them to go a week without a poo, they just use everything in the BM so there is no waste. If shes had no formula & has solid stools consult your Dr. |
| Can you fix broken fuel pump?? the connector part.? baught this 320$ pump for my 99 blazer well later on i notice leaking fuel, so i drop tank and repair my pin holes in the tank. ok long story short i broke the quick connect line going to pump the plastic tit thing.
